Ono of the leading Presbyterian Ministers and former Moderator is accused of too intimate relations with members of his congregation, and divorce proceedings have been inbtituted. The delinquent proceeded to Now Zealand in the early part of the month, and is believed to have joined the R.JI S. Alameda at Auckland for 'Frisco.

Mr E. Howe informs us that his brother, Mr Q-. Howe, is improving in health.

As the bead of such a valuable organisation Captain Cumn.ins was tho right man in the right place, and all has gone smoothly with the Brigade, the members of which, as well «3 the rest of the community deeply regiet tho unfortunate occasion which has arisen to deprive them of the seivices of so popular and deserving a man as Captain Cummins. The provisional directors of the Wanganui Meat Freezing Company met yesterday afternoon. As all tho returns from tho country canvassers were not in, it was decided to postpone dealing with tho notice of motion as to registering the company forthwith. Tho directors havo fixed 3000 as the required number of shares to bo applied for before proceeding to register the company, and they still requiro about 300 to make' up that total. As there are still a large number of stockowners who have not applied for shares, it is to be hoped these dilatory folks will delay no longer, but take up the required number as soon as possible, «o that tho company way bo registered without delay, and a start made at tho earliest possible moment. A quantity of routine business was disposed of, and tho sub-committee appointed to deal with tho question of tho carriage of the frozen meat to Wellington, reported that they were still m communication with thice or four steamship-owners on the subject, and would report lesults later on.
