(Per United Press Association.) .OilZO, May 9— News is to hand of a great battle Ibetween Menlek, who recently proclaimed himself Negus of Abyisinia upon the death of Johannes, and the Dervishes. Tho battle lasted three days. On the first day the Nogus captured many prisoners, early on the second day the Dervishes made a surprise attack on Mcnclek's forces and the latter was wounded. Suffering tho effects of a raging fever brought on by bis vronnd Menelek ordered the captives to be beheaded, and 2.000 corpses were heaped before him. On the morning of the' third, day Menelek, attired in sumptuous robes, mounted his hone, and declaring himself the elect of God and that he *M invincible, rode out at the head of the troops and invited battle. In this encounter with tho Dervishes he was again wounded, and succumbed to the wounds. His army was completely routed by the Dervishes, and 30,000 killed.
