November 8. Exceedingly hoavy rain foil a great part of yesterday, and the river roso rapidly eight foet aboyo tho uaual height. At high tido this morning, it was almost within two foot of tho wharf, after whioh it began to fall. Many porsons Btopped up all night, and somo oven changed thoii" qxiartors in caso of acoidont. Tho rivor is voportcd to havo been highor at Ahaura than during tho last great flood.
