FATBA OEIOKET OLUB.
The above Club held its annual meeting meeting in the Central Hotel on Saturday last, when there was only a moderate attendance, Mr D, Paten on oconpied the ohair, and the following report was read : - Chairman and Gentlemen, — The officers have to report that the Clnb for the season 1886-87 was fairly successful in the number of winning matches with outside clubs, winning two and losing two, and wo played several matohes among members whioh are very useful in getting members to practice, aad we recommend that snch matches should be played as often as possible. We had a ohallenge from Manaia, but could not arrange dates, but hope to do 10 this season. With Waverley we played three mrtoheu, and they wish to arrange another scries this season, if possible. The financial position of the Club is very satisfactory, for although we have no credit balance, still we have all the necessary material paid fo r , and therefore have no liabilities to start with, Last season we had to purchase all material, gpeoial thanks are due to W. J. Arundell, Esq., who presented the club with a firstclass sat of leg RUardi. We would recommend the incoming officers to arrange as many half-day matches as oan conveniently be done, the reason being that they are not only less expensive, bat we can always muster an eleven for them when we cannot for a whole-day matoh. In conclusion, it beoomes our painful duty to record the loss Of our esteemed eaqtain, thß late Geo. W. Gower, who was drowned some weeks ago in the Patea River, and we are certain the members will one 'and all join ns in our expressions of regret and sympathy with the bereaved parents.— H Gebbikb, Hon. Secretary. — The report and balance-sheet, which was also read, were received and adopted. The following were elected officebearers for the ensuing year :— President, W. J. Arundell, Esq. ; Vice- Presidents, Messrs J. Shields and H. Gibbons ; Practfoe Captain, Mr E. B. Wr»y ; Secretary and Treasurer, Mr J.Bayly; Committee, Messrs D. Paterson, H. Mence, and C. Hamerton.
