_^ — . _ (reuter's telegrams), THE NEW HEBRIDES. Melbourne, August 18— In the Legislative Assembly last night a formal resolution approving of tho Budget was voted. During the sitting Mr Gillies, Premier, made a statement to the effect that the Victorian Government deemed it unnecessary to ask the other colonies to renew the protest regarding the New Hebrides. The only satisfactory solution would be the fixing of a date for the withdrawal of the French troop 3. The colonies, he added, were agreed regarding the question of influx of criminals, and the prevention of a continuation therefrom. RESIGNATION OF MR DIBB3. Sydney, August 18— Mr Dibbs has resigned his position in the Cabinet as Colonial Secretary, owing to a difference of opinion with his colleagues in reference to the proposed establishment of a statistical Department.
