THE FRIENDLY SOCIETIES' DEMONSTRATION.

Wellington, October 15. To-day is observed as a close holiday on account of the Friendly Societies' demonstration. A procession consisting of representatives from Wairarapa, Nelson, Wanganui, Christchurch, Blenheim, and Wellington to the number of about 3000 paraded this morning and proceeded to tbe Baain Reserve, where sports are being held. The' weather is beautifully fine.
