A MISCHIEVOUS JOURNAL.
TO TUB EDITOR.
Sib, — What ails the gentleman who rules the roast at the Chronicle Office ? Nothing seems to please him of late, since his friends went out of office. This morning he gives both the Heads Railway and the Up-river Steamboat Company a cold bath and predicts their early failure. Why does he try to retard all the energetic measures our most enterprising and pushing fellow-townsmen bring forward for the advancement of Wanganui ? Is he alarmed at the prospect of being distanced in the race for progress and stability, and selfishly trying to clog the wheels so that he may be able to keep pace with a retarded advancement? — I am, &c. # Shareholder,
