Received May 27, 3 p.m. Melbourne, May 27. — A reduction of a shilling in the tariff for ten-word telegrams between Victoria and New South Walea haß proved a nplen id success, the tratlic having increased fu'ly one-third, while the falling off in the Revenue Department has been slight. Negotiations have tx en in progress with the New Zealand Telegraph Department to reduce their share of the revenue to sixpence per ten words in order to admit of the rate between Victoria and that colony beiog reduced to 7a, but up to the present time they have refused, although the Victorian Government strongly urges its acceptance.
