The Wanganui Rifles, in soliciting the patronage of the public of Wanganni for the Ninth Annual Sports, trust that their efforts in the past to provide a good day's amusement for their patrons, together with the services of their Brass Band, whioh, on all worthy occasions, has been at the publio service, will warrant them in relying upon a continuation of publio support. The site — Victoria Park— with its pleasant surroundings, has been decided upon after matured consideration and at the request of many of the inhabitants. PROGRAMME : 1. POINTS PRIZE.— A prize of £3 will be given to the highest aggregate scorer in the Handicap Races, Nos. 3, 5, 9, 11, and 13 ; points to count 3, 2, and 1, for first,' second, and third places respectively. ' RULES AND REGULATIONS. Nominations for Handicaps and entrance for Maiden Race to be made to the Secretary on or before Saturday, the 13th December, at 9 p.m., at Mr H. N. Brown's, Tobacconist, Victoria Avenue, the past two years' performances to accompany nominations. Handicaps to be declared on Saturday, 20th December. Entries for remaining events will be received at the Secretary's office, on the ground, on the day of the Sports.— The races are open to all, and will be run under the rules of the Wanganui Caledonian Society. — Acceptances must be made with the Secretary afc least half an hour before the appointed time of starting.— The, time for receiving entries and acceptances will be strictly adhered to. — No nominations or entries will be received unless accompanied with the proper fees. — Competitors must appear in proper costume. — The decision of the Stewards, or whoever they may appoint, shall, in all cases, be final.— Four competitors to start or no third prize, three or no second, two or no first. — Swings will be erected on different parts of the ground.— Booths, refreshment stalls, &c, will be provided. — Sports to commence at 11 o'clock sharp.— The Band of the Wanganui Rifles will be in attendance, Admission to ground, Is ; Children under 10 years of age, free. A RICHABDSON SHOW Will be held on the Grounds, where performances will take place during the day.
