AUCKLAND TRAINING NOTES.

Acckland, Dec 17.

The following are Hippona's training notes, as published in the Star: M This morning at Ellerslie^haafer's two-year-olds, Thunderbolt, Derringer, and Mask had a spin; the former had the best of it. Turquoise and Youth next made their appearance, and after the Cup caudidate had gone once round at a steady pace, he was pioked up by Youth for a smart brush. When they had gone a short distance, the greasy state of the course caused Youth to slip, nnd he enme down, bringing Rudings with him. Neither of the paif showed any ill effects from the fall. Alaric and Fisherboy (in company) went twice round at a good paco, the iirst named going with great determination. Woodnymph and Carbineer were treated to a mile at half pace, and Biflleman and Julia did serviceable work, Welcome Jack was seiit once round by himself; the champion being picked up at 'the mile post by Sou'wester, who had Kay in the saddle ; the pair came home at top speed, both going in a very taking manner. Clarence went three times round ' the plough at half pace, and Ugly Buck Accompanied him once round ; the colt is in firsirclaas trim. Barbary was next to work, and when he stripped on the course he appeared sound ; he went once at half pace, it then being increased, but on returning to the box he" walked quite lame in the foreleg. Hopthorn and Southern Chief (in company) did useful work, and Tel ford and Slider, after putting in an easy once r6und, came home at a good' pace. Minerva, Painter, and The Poet only did light work, and the last named appears to be in good heart. < Necklace did not put in an appearance, and Administrator, Libeller, and Salvage merely did walking exercise. The last named has done no wofk since his arrival. '.','' ' : ,' - '
