Wind- Between N.E. and N.W. at all stations south of Kaikoura and Hokitika, jtnd between N.W. and S.W. at all other places during next 16 hours, but backing to JT.E. after that time at all stations from !New Plymouth southward to Kaikoura and Hokitika. ■ Babomhtee — Further rise everywhere, but falling soon et all places south of Kaikoura and Hokitika, and after 12 hours at all jtations from thence northward to Napier *Ind New Plymouth. Sea— lncrease on western coast. Warnings for northerly gales after from 12 to 16 tours have been sent to all places south of Napier and New Plymouth. Synopsis of lass twenty-four hours.— ■ Throughout the country there was a further fall of the barometer until past midnight, and since then it has risen and the wind ■£ changed to the sonthward. Heavy rain has ..fallen generally, and there has been » hard Northerly gale at most places from Napier to New Plymouth southward to Blenheim and Weatport, and a thunderstorm on the coast between Lyttelton and Cape Campbell. — R.
