. MB FREEMAN R. JACKSON'S FORTV V NIGHTLY STOCK REPORT. § ?' WbdkeSday, December 10. In oonaequence of the wet weather only a limited number of stock came forward at the Wftverl6y*sale last Friday, and I sold all that offered at ourrentratea. At the yards to* day. all the advertised cattle were yarded. The bidding for cows was brisk, and they ■old well. Beef was of indifferent quality, all the pens being cleared by the graziers ; butchers will have only prime stuff. I offered the crossbred rams bred by Mr Thatcher, but I failed to effect a sale, ' whilst the animals were very much admired. Farmers were shy of making euoh a change, not being satisfied with the j result would' be by using crossbred rams. ! .. Mr Thatcher sold wethers and lambs got j by rams of the same class, which for carcass * and quality of wool could not be surpassed. Tfie rams showed a distinct type of sheep, Having in their veins equal strains of merino and Lincoln blood. 1 trust Mr Thatcher wHI persevere in the course he has adopted in spite of the small encouragement offered at the sile to-day. A small number of shorn sheep were penned, whioh were well competed fon Piga were in full numbers and Bold at fair values, Mr Hair's small purebred Dnokerings making 21s each. The stalls were all filled, a few useful horses meeting good competition. Screws and weeds were sold under 'the hammer at usual rates. 1 sold about two-thirds of those offered.
