FATAL ACCIDENT AT THE CATTLE WHARF.

A MAN KILLKD.

At a little after 2 o'clock this afternoon, a fatal accident occurred ot the cattle wharf, where tho St, Kilda was loading cattle. An A. B. named Martin, was stepping from the steamer to the wharf, where he purposed doing something to the) cattle shoot. In stopping his foot slipped, and he fell between the side of the ves3el and the piles of the wharf. He was at once picked up but life was extinct, his neck heing broken. From a gash on the side of hie mouth it is evident that he must h»ve struck the wooden stringers in his fall. Dr Connolly was soon in attendance, but of course could render no assistance. The body was conveyed on a stretcher to the Ship Hotal where he now lies. Deceased was about 35 years of age.
