DAHEBUBY is own brother to Adamant (winner of the Dunetlin Cup of 1883, in the fastest time It has yet been done in, viz., 3min 54sec), by the farfamed sire Traducer, dam Ada (winner of the Canterbury Derby), by St. Aubyn (sire of Toitoi, Harakeke, and Una, dams of Kakapo, Hornby, Korari, Perfume, Ariel, etc.), granddam Princess, Grato (sire of Dinah), dam of that wonderful mare Musidore, who produced amongst others the following noted horses :- Miss Jessie (winner of the V.R.C. Derby), Balphegor, Sea Spray (winner V-R.C. and S.A.T.C. St. Legers), Breseis (winner V.R.C. Derby, Oaks, and Melbourne Cup), and South Hamilton (winner V.R.C. Two-year-old Stakes ; and sire of Violet) granddam Bargo (winner of the Hawkesbury Guineas and A.J.C. Derby), the best three-year-old now in Australia. Ada's dam, Princess, is also dam of Glaucus, Potentate, Symphony, Cassandria, Regina, &c, all great racehorses, and from whose loins have sprung Lacenfeed, Opera (winner Canterbury Derby, and dam of that sterling performer, Tambourini), Discretion, dam of Resolution, Tally Ho, and Hailstorm (winner vVanganui Cup), and Princess Mary, dam of Administrator and Consul. Traducer.- -It is needless to do more than mention his name, as he is also sire of the best racehorses ever bred in the Southern Hemisphere, viz., Lurline (dam of that wonderful horse Darebin), Calumny, Lo Loup, Fishhook, Templeton, Maritana, Bribery, Betrayer, Sir Moured, Welcome Jack, and a host of others too numerous to mention. From the above it will be seen that Daneboky. through his dam as well as sire, is directly related to some of the best horses that have ever trod the Australian or New Zealand turf. Danebury himself as a racehorse had few equals and no superior, for during his turf career he always carried big weights aud in his turn defeated all the best horses of his day (including Templeton, Fishhook, Guy Fawkes, Maritana, Bribery, Foul Play, Ariel, Camballo, Luna, etc.), of which the following performances is a proof :— As a two-year-old he won tho Canterbury Champagne Stakes, and ran second for the Railway Plate. As a thr e-year-old, at the Canterbury Metropolitan Meeting, he won the Railway Plate, weight-for-age, half-a-mile, beating Guy Fawkes, and six others ; time, soJsec. ; ran second for the Canterbury Cup, weight-for-age, 2\ miles. The following day he carried 71bs penalty, and won the Christchurch Plate, weight-for-age, two miles, beating Templeton, and five others. He then journeyed to Auckland (and though he had lost a deal of his form) he won the Derby, ran second to Perfume in the R.C. Handicap, giving her2yrs and lOlbs, and second to Ariel for the Auckland Cup.— viiel, 4yrs. Bst 2lbs, Danebury, 3yrs, 7St 21bs. He returned to Dunedin, and ran second for the Derby, having behind him Bribery, Fallacy, Hippocampus, and several others. As a four-year-old, at the Canterbury Metropolital Meeting, carrying Bst lllbs, ran third in the C. J.C. Handicap, won by Mata, 6st 7lbs. Ariel, 6yrs, Pst, second ; and second to Trump Cord (his half brother, and the best three-year-olds 0 his year), in the CO. Plate, two miles, (he was only beaten by a head after a desperate race), giving him lolbs ; time, 3min 4lsecs. At Waitaki he carried top weight, and won the Cup and Stakes. The following day he won the County Plate, weight-tor-age, and the J.C. Handicap under the crushing weight of lCst 4lbs. AtGeraldine he carried 9st4lbs and 9st 121bs, and won the Cup and J.C. Handicap. At Ashburton he carried top weight (gst 7lbs), and won the Cup. Won the Wairarapa Stakes, three miles, weight-for-age. As a five-year-old at the Canterbury Metropolitan Meeting, carrying ost (top weight), won the Free Handicap of one irdle, beating Foul Play, Camballo, Sinking Fund, Luna, etc., time lmin 46sec. Won the •RaUway Plate, -weignt-for-age, and Metropolitan Handicap, \\ miles, carrying Bst 4lbs, having behind him Fishhook, Ariel, Longlands, Natator, Bribery* and others ; time 2min 4lssec. As a six-year-old he did not race. As a seven-year-old, and while performing stud duties, ho carried gst 121bs, and won the Lyall's Bay Cup, and the Wairarapa J C. Handicap, 2 miles (by twenty lengths) ; time 3min agsec. From Danebury's brilliant performances It will be seen that he could beat the Flyers for half a mile, as well as stay long distances under big weights. Ab a stud horse he is a grand specimen of the powerful short-legged thoroughbred, of perfect temper and great constitution (two of the most essential quail ties of a sire). He has been four years at the stud (the whole of the time in the Wairarapa), where his , stock are much admired for their substance and , quality, and are selling at very satisfactory prices. He is only being removed from their for a season in j order to change the blood.
