ANDERSON v. STRETCH.

TO THE EDITOR.

i Sib, — With reference to the funeral case heard at the R.M. Court — Anderson v. Stretch— l beg to state that Mrs Stretch, my sister-in-law, sent a boy asking me to inform Mr Anderson that my brother was dead, and I did so, but never gave an order that I would be responsible for the funeral expenses. Mr Anderson never asked me if I would pay the expenses of the funeral. Had he done so, I would have said no. The widow said she would pay the funeral expenses, and it was the widow that made the agreement with Mr Cathro (Anderson's employe") and not me, and it was the widow that paid Mr Anderson £2 on account of the funeral, which shows that she was responsible for the full amount. A letter in the Chronicle of this morning, in answer to "Observer," stated that Mr Stretch intimated to Mr Anderson about his brother's funeral, but never said he -would be responsible tor the expenses. — I am, &«., John Stretch. His X mark. March 14.
