HEADS RAILWAY.
After our issue of yesterday the secretary ' to the Heads Railway sent a telegram to the Government accepting the proposals made by the Minister for Public Works (a copy of , which is appended below), and to-day received a telegram intimating that the Gov- -' ernor's .assent would be gazetted to-morrow 1 . , We have no doubt that the directors, having forced the hands of the Government (although met on every turn by great difficulties), will now proceed with the construction of the railway. The following is a copy of the secretary's telegram :: — ■ Hon. Minister Public Works, Wellington. — Company accept proposals contained in your telegram of today, and hope that Governor's assent will be given without further delay. Waiting reply for report to general . meeting.:— o. S. Cross, secretary. To whiph the following reply was- received : — C. S. Cross, Esq., Wanganui. — Your telegram containing acceptance of proposals to hand, and Governor's consent to construction of railway, has been giye,n accordingly. It will be gazetted to-morrow, if possible.— C. Y. O'Connor, Under-Sec-retary. , ' ' '
