AUCKLAND. Dec. 16. The New Zealand Tobacco Manufacturing Company is being floated with great success. The directors have decided to curtail the allotment of shares in Auckland to allow a quantity for allocation to other parts of the colony. Deceased was playing in a boat with two boys, 6 and 9 years of age, and overbalanced himself. He was quite dead when his father got him out of the water. DUNEDIN. December 16. The Otago Kifle meeting, which has lasted over three days, ended yesterday. The two first days were very wet. The prize for the highest aggregate scorer in four matches was won by Volunteer Sontag, of Waikari, with a total of 322, the next highest being 315. Sontag took first prize in the first match and second in the third. The competition between teams of five from various corps for the ladies' shield resulted in the CluthaRifles team winning. Volunteer Johnston, of the team, made the grand score of 95 out of a possible 105, and Volunteer McCarthy, of the City Guards team, made 94. Nintytwo was the highest made in any previous year.

WELLINGTON. Dec 17. . Consul, Administrator, and Odd Trick leave for Wanganui by the Stormbird this evening to fill engagements at Kangitikei. Hercules has been scratched for the Wellington Cup.
