WAVERLEY TOWN BOARD.

(from our own correspondent). The Waverley Town Board met on Monday, sth instant. Present — Messrs Mason (chairman), Napier, Muir, and McFarlane. — The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. — Correspondence read from Mr F. P. Fookos, Mr Ward, R.M., and the Otago Daily Times. — Resolved that the Board refund to Mr Fookes (collector) .the sum of 10a 3d, paid by him for postage. — Resolved that the public office of the Board be advertised in the Patea Mail in accordance with the act. — Resolved that the chairman acknowledge receipt of Mr Ward's letter, and enquire the amount of claim. — Resolved that the Board obtain a copy of the supplement to the Vincent Pyke handybook. Mr McFarlane reported that Mr Swan and he had inspected the hall, and found that several blocks had rotted away entirely, and that many would require to be replaced with new ones. He also suggested that the steps should be altered, as he did not consider it advisable to lower the building.—Resolved that tenders be called for putting in blocks under the hall, and altering the steps, in accordance with Mr McFarlane's specifications. — Resolved thatthe meeting of the Boerd Ipe held on the last Monday in the month instead of on the first Monday, as agreed to at the last meeting. — The Chairman reported the receipt of Mr Rismussen's resignation, and the election of Mr Muir. — Resolved that the Chrirman, Messrs Napier and Muir be a committe to adjust accounts between the Town and Domain Boards, and report at next meeting. That the collector be instructed to advertise that all rates unpaid after the 19th inst. be sued for. — The Chairman asked the Board to appoint a committee to inspect the Poundkeeper's books, and to report at next meeting. Messrs Muir and Napier were appointed. — A number of accounts were presented, but in the absence of funds, they were allowed to stand over until Monday next, and the Chairman and Mr Muir were deputed to make arrangements for an overdraft and report at a meeting on 12th inst. — Resolved that the chairman draw the attention of the Council receiving the fees for auctioneers' licenses to clause 20 of the Town Districts Act Amendment of 1883, and request them to pay over moneys in accordance with the same. — The Board then adjourned to Monday, the 12th inst. at 8 p. m. The gale on Sunday last was very severe on this part of the Coast, and considerable damage has been done to gardens and orchards. A large quantity of fruit has been destroyed, and traces of the storm are visible at a great distance inland, the leaves of the trees being blackened and withered by the salt spray on the side exposed to the gale. Fortunately there was no serious injury to the buildings. One Bmall tenement, however, could be seen topay-turvy next morning, with the blocks pointing upwards, and was rather comical to behold,
