LATEST INTELLIGENCE.
Received Nov 7, 12.40 p.m. THE REBELLION IN SERVIA. Belgrade, Nov 6. — Intelligence is to hand from Scernareka that the insurrectionists are in considerable force, and have occupied a strong strategical position. The body of troops despatched against them has, it is reported, been dispersed by the rebels, after a brief engagement. (SPEOIAL TO UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) London, Nov 3.— Sir William Morgan v/ill be buried at Elston,Redford,on Wednesday. The Economist says that England cannot allow the Pacific Islands to be annexed by any Foreign Power. The German Society for promoting the establishment of colonies is actively agitating on the subject. The attempts made to float the Mizapore have proved unsuccessful. Nov 4. — A German firm at Angra Peg vena have threatened to fire on a British schooner, in consequence of the captain having refused to pay Custom duties. The cargo of frozen meat by the s.s. Orient has arrived in excellent condition. Sir Evelyn Wood, who is in charge of the British forces in Egypt, states that 3000 soldiers will be quite sufficient to preserve order in Egypt, and it will be necessary for that number to be stationed there. The Marquis Tseng has officially denied the telegram sent by M. Tricon. The authorities at Hayti have apologised for having fired upon a British steamer, and have agreed to pay an indemnity.
