THE MELBOURNE SPRING MEETING.
(beuter's telegrams. — copyright.) Melbourne, Nov 2. The following eighteen horses have accepted for the Maribyrnong Plate : — David, Second Kingf, Bon Fortune, Merriman, The Bohemian, Garfield, Honeydew, Buckingham, Venetia, King's Own, lolanthe, Bargo, King of Gipsies, Helena, Gratitude, The Broker, Sandal Coir. The following eleven horses accepted for the Derby at 11 a.m. to-day :— Archie, Hurricane, Little Sister, Napier, Off Color, Martini-Henri, Sardius, Signora, Figaro, Killarney, Vernet. The weather hear is now fine, aud with every prospect of continuing so. Later. It is almost certain fine weather will be experienced for the races to-morrow. The following is the latest betting : — Maribyrnong Plate — Garfield, 5 to 1 ; Helene, 7 to 1 ; David, Bto 1 j Second King, lOtol. Derby — Archie, level betting ; Off Color, 3to 1 ; Hurricane, sto 1 ; Vernet, 6to 1 ; Signor, 12 to 1. Cvp — Stockwell, 12 to 1 ; Despot, 14 to 1.
