Received July 2, 1 a.m. Sydney, June 30.— A large fire occurred this evening at New Castle, by which the extensive premises belonging to Messrs John Ash and Sons, timber merchants, were totally destroyed. Topham, contractor for the Sydney waterworks, was to-day ttuck up near Camden by two armed men, who tied him to a tree, and robbed him of a sum of £1500. The robbers have since been captured by the police. Melbourne, June 30.— -The" Victorian revenue for the quarter ended June 30th amounted to £1,350,000, being a decrease of £29,000 compared with the same quarter last year. The revenue for the past financial year amounted to £5,600,000, being an increase of £12,500 during the same period. The Customs revenue increased by £74,250, and the excise returns decreased by £59,500, owing to the abolition of the beer duty. The territorial revenue decreased by £146,000, and railways increased by, £123,000, and stomps by £18,250. Received July 2, 1.15 p.m. Adelaide, July 2.— The revenue of the colony during last year amounted to £2,090,000, being a decrease of £155,500 as compared with 1831-82, chiefly due to the falling off in land revenue; but for this there would have been an increase of £43,000. The Customs revenue during the i year was increased by £60,000, and the rail* way receipts by £40,000.
