CHRISTCHURCH.
Feb 14.
In the District Court to-day Judge Ward gave judgment for defendants in McLennan v the Christchurch Tramway Company, a claim for £31, for the loss of a horse killed by a fall occasioned by the animal's hooff catching in the tram line. He considered that the occurrence was a pure accident, for which the Company were not liable.
A summons returnable on March 30th has been taken out in the Supreme Court calling upon Duncan McCallum, of the TambourMajor Company, to Bhow cause why his bankruptcy should not be annulled. Frank Emmners, President of the Working Men's Political Association, is to be nominated for Selwyn.
Feb 15.
The Lyttelton Borough Couacil inteni to present the Governor with an address on his arrival. The same will be done in Christohurch.
The Union Insurance Company have issued a policy premium on which was £1016 16s. This is stated to be the largest fire premium ever received south of the line.
