CAP-A-PIE was purchased for 600 guineas by the Auckland Stud Company, and his first gets, now yearlings, show wonderful size, power, and quality. He is in colour a rich dark bay, standing 15 hands 2 inches high ,pn short legs. He has capital bone, great length ; and a more muscular horse cannot be found in New Zealand. As a 2 and 3-year-old he was one of the greatest performers in the Australian colonies, and he is related on his sire and dam's s de to all the best racehorses which have appeared on the turf during the past seven years. From the thoroughbred or wellbred mares he must produce racehorses, hurdlehorses, or steeplechasers ; and from ordinary mares should have grand hacks and carriage horses.
