MURDEROUS OUTRAGE AT CAMPBELLTOWN.

■ ' <• About four o'clock yesterday afternoon a man named Hugh McMahon, an old soldier, formerly belonging, we believe, to the 65th. Regiment,,' .called at the Bed' Lion Hotel in company with another man. They had a drink of beer each, and left, going- to Mr Cameron's (Marangai) in search of work. Some time after, McMahon returned alone, and wanted Mr Reid to give him some more beer. Mr Reid refused, and as, the man was leaving the bar three' young natives pushed in, hustling, the old- -man on one side. Mr Reid sang out to them to desist from interfering with McMahon, and he left, The natives almost immediately turned and followed McMahon. Mr Reid, while serving some customers at the other end of the bar, heard a scuffle , put side. Thinking the old man wa&Weing assaulted, he shouted out and ran tjound to the front of the honso. McMahon received a severe wound on the top of the head, evidently from a kick, while he ia badly bruiasd. Death is primary attributable, to drink, j the ill usage, however, preclpitoting matters. ' "
