PRACTICAL SYMPATHY.
/ TO THE EDITOB. , . Sia.— A Bhort time ago: I saw a local in tour paper to the effect that the brother carpenters of the late J. E. Davidson,- of Plymouth Btreet, had gratuitously finished the newhouse he was ereoting at the time of >4us aeath. Now I beg to contradict that • stater' .ment. Mrs Davidsonis desirous of expressing her gratitude to those who kindly, assisted her* but the house is a long way from b&ug finished yet, although a carpenter has been some tea days at work on wages. It any of the carpenterß would olub together and make good the compliment paid them, it would be doing the poor woman a good turn. I remain yours, &c, A.0.C., Ball Street, [We received the information respecting the action of the friends of the deceased from a reliable source. We ate sorry to hear that our recognition of the set vices of the carpenters was rather premature as stated by " A.0.C," but trust that assistance will be promptly given, now that it is known that such is required.— E»i W,H;]
