The raciug seoson of of 1878-79 may now be said to have fairly commenced, and from the large number of programmes issued by the different Jocke.Y Clubs throughout New Zealand there should bo sport for the million. Last week the Geraldine meeting was held, and this week the Duntroon and Cromwell, Otago, meetings will be receiving attention, and should throw some light on the big Spring meeting at Christchurch, at all events give a key to the probable result of the C.J.C. Handicap, as there are several performers at these small meets, whioh are to sport colors on the 6th, 6th, and 7th of November, on the Cbriatchurch racecourse,
