Notices COLONIAL REGATTA. i To be held at Wanganui, February 12 and 13th, 1878. PROGRAMME First Day. 1. Maiden Race. — 2 Miles. Ist prize £10. Four-oared inrigged Gigs with coxswain. Open only to those who have never started for an advertised race. Second boat ' * to save entrance money. 3. 'Champion Pairs. — 9 Miles. Ist prize, £2. With or without coxswain ; no restriction as to boats. "3. Senior Fours. — 3 Miles, lstprize, £50; 2nd do £5. Inrigged with eoxswan. 4. Champion Sculrs. 2 Miles. Ist prize, £20. 5. Whaleboats, as in Champion Whaleboat Race ; open to bona fide members of any Volunteer corps or Five Brigade who have belonged to the corps for six monvhs before date of race. Crews must be selected from one company only. 4. Ladies Plate. — 3 Miles. Ist prize, £30 ; second do. £5. Fouroared Outriggers, with or without coxswain. The winner of the Champion Fours will not be allowed to compete in this race. The prizes will be given in plate. 5 Canoe Race. — 3 Miles. Ist prize £10. No restriction as to canoes or number of crew. RULES. 1. The entrance money will be 5 per cent on amount of first prize. 2. All entires (except for the canoe race) to be accompanied by entrance fees, and forwarded to the Secretary at the Commercial Hotel, Wanganui, not ■later than 8 p.m. on February Ist, 1878. : N.B. — Entries for the Canoe Race close at 10 a.m. on February 13th. 3. No prize will be given unless two boats start ; no second prize ' unless three start. 4. The He wards will havo the power to make such modifications as they may deem necessary, and to postpone any race or races in the event of fine weather.
