ART AND INDUSTRIAL EXHIBITION.

A very interesting meeting of the Library Committee was held on Wednesday evening, when the question of holding an Art and Industrial Exhibition was fully discussed. The lion, secretary read a number of Jotters from gentlemen in Wanganui, in all of which a desire of assisting iv the promotion of the object and the warmest sympathy with it, was expressed. The committee went into matters of detail, and came to the unanimous conclusion that tile circumstances warranted them in undertaking the responsibility, and a motion was carried, '* That an Art and Industrial Exhibition be held in the month of August, the time to extend over three days, the following

charges to be made for admission : On the two first days, 2s 6d each day ; and on the third day, la ; Is only to be charged on the evening of each day." From the Exhibition committee departmental committees, the number of members on each not to exceed three, will be appointed, in order that by division of labor, the responsibilities and onerous ta-k may bo satisfactorily performed. Each departmental committee will be charged with, a definite duty, and will report progress to the general committee at its meetings. The question has been approached with more than ordinary enthusiasm and intelligence, and we believe, with the assistance of tho public, an exhibition may be held which wiJi reflect honor upon the town and district.
