HUNTER AND NOLAN'S REPORT. February 5. Horses.— A good many have off eredf or sale, and for those of a good stamp the demand was spirited. Above the average nnniber were submittedf or sale by auction on Friday. For good light harness horses there was spirited competition at from £11 to £27 10s. Good hacks sold readily, but no heavy draught were disposed of in town, but at Papakura a mare realised £43 ; hacks, from £3 10s to £6 7s 6d ; light harness, £25. Cattle. — There was an average muster at Newmarket on Tuesday, and a very large one at Papakura on Wednesday, (over 400 head.) There has been a spirited demand for both dairy and store stock, particularly at Papakura. Fat beasts were in sufficient supply, and last week's prices were maintained. We quote : Calves, from 29s to £2 10s ; yearlings,£2 lss to £3 10s; 18 months old, £4 10 a; 2-yr-old heifers, from £3 5s to £4 5s ; 2-year-old steers, from £4 10a te £5 10s ; 3-year-old steers, from £6 2s 6d to £6 10s. Beef, 30s per 1001 b. SHEEP.--Th.ere is a plentiful supply ; for best descriptions suitable for the butcher, last week's prices were maintained, but at Newmarket a good many Avere penned not sufficiently up in condition. At Papakura the price for stores Avas the same as at NeAvmarket. Fat -sheep ,solcl at from 2£d to 3d per lb ; store wethers, from 13s 3d to 14s ; ewes, aged, 12a 3d. Lambs : There Avas a fair supply, arid sold at fully last Aveek's prices. : Pigs. — There Avas a better supply than has been the case for Aveeks, both at New-, market and ' Papakura ; good porkers selling at 3^d per lb. live weight.— Cross.
