COMMERCIAL.

FREEMAN E. JACKSON'S FORTNIGHTLY STOCK EEPOET.

Thuesday, Feb. 3, 1876.

At the sale yards to-day, the pens were all filled, and sold at quotations. The bidding for all descriptions of stock was good. Cattle. — 13G head came forward. Fat cows fetched from £6 12s 6d to £7 2s 6d ; bullocks, of medium quality, £7 5s ; store bullocks, from £6 12s 6dto £7 15s ; cows, £4 17s 6d to £5 10s ; 18 months-old, mixed sexes, £3 2s 6d to £3 10s.

I quote prime beef at 20s. Sheep. — 773 head were penned. Fat ewes, 5s 6d to 8s 9d ; wethers, in good condition, 9s 3d ; breeding ewes, 4s 9d ; lambs, 4s9dto6s9d. Horses. — The demand was brisk, nearly all that were offered being placed. Hacks made from £5 to £15 10s.

Export. — Our export trade in cattle has been limited during the last fortnight, with the exception of 130 head to ■Wellington, overland. Only 50 head have left this port for other ports. In my export returns I only report stock that are shipborne. Store cattle still maintain late rates, and are at extreme values. Fat cattle are lower by 2s per head.
