The remainder of tlio week at Mr Alex. Coekburn's, Hill Side, Kangitikei. NAPOLEON Was bred by Charles Wffchell, Esq., Selwyn ; out, of an imported Tusmanian mare. His sire, Napoleon, was imported trom Scotland 1864, to Dunedin, and purchased by William Eoag, Burnside, Canterbury, and was bred by Mr Macadam, Kepkullouk, out of a pure Clydesdale mare, purchased from Lorn Campbell, Esq., of lloseneath, whose well-known stock of brood mares surpasses any in the West County for symmetry and purity of breeding. His sire was bred by Mr Euchanau, of Coldrnck, out of a very superior mare, which gained a number of first-class prizes at Drymen Show, aud also the Highland Society's prize of £10. She also bred some of the most valuable stock that has been exhibited in the West of Scotland, namely, Napoleon's sire; George Buchanan, by Tom, who gained the premium at Cupar, Fife —(George Euchanau was sold for .£2OO when three years old) —a mare which gained a great number of of first prizes at local shows, and the third prize at the lale Highland Society's show in Glasgow, and was sold for the handsome sum of £150 ; a colt, Ben Lomond, full brother to Napoleon, when one year old, sold to Mr Peter Brawford, Dumgoyack, for £100, and which gained the first premium at the Highland Society's Show at Aberdeen, in 185S, and the first prize at Glasgow, and was sold at the end of the season for £250 to yo to Australia. Ben Lomond^took the second prize, when shown in Melbourne, in liSO4, out of fourteen imported horses only beaten by Black Leg, which has never been beaten. Napoleon stands 10 hands high, and is compactly built, strong bone, 5 years old, and has proved himself a sure foal getter. Terms, £3 3s; payable January 1,1874.
