As one of the oldest settlers of the district, I am well known to most of you, -and am ready to do my best to represent your interests, which are also my own. The extent of my abilities you are as well able toestiinate'as I am myself, and I need say nothing further on that subject. Ido not expect to set the "Wanganui river on fire, although I am exceedingly anxious to sen its channel deepened, and shall do vny best to secure the fulfilment of that object from Provincial funds. I shall do my best to procure the alteration of the existing Education Act of this Province in very material respects, so as to render it less oppressive in its character, and more capable of being efficiently Worked. TO THE ELECTORS, OF THE fiiNGITIEKI DISTRICT. n ENTLEMEN,—At the urgent in\X stance of a large number of the Electors of this District, I have consented to become a Candidate lor the representation of Rangitikei in the Provincial Council. My time being at present so fully occupied in connection with the Education Board will prevent any personal canvass on ray part, but seeing that it is not very long since I had the opportunity of fully explaining my individual views on vhe various points bearing on provincial politics, I trust that you will overlook my inability to address you on the present occasion. I am desirous of obtaining a seat in the Provincial Council for many reasons, amongst others, that I may have an opportunity to aid in amending the present Education Act, the experience I have had in the working of the present one, enabling me to judge as to the direction in which such amendments must tend. If elected I shall also endeavour to hare an Act passed giving modified powers of a Town Board to such of our Townships as may desire it, so as to enable them to form footpaths, construct drains, light the streets, etc., and at the same time try to induce the Government to put the Licensing Act on a more satisfactory footing. Should you do me the honor to elect me, you u\ay lely on my utmost endeavours to promote the welfare of the District, at a time when it will take tho exertions of your representatives, whoever they may be, to see that Rangitikei has accorded to it its fair share in the future expenditure of the Province.
