A i (Under the Special-Patronage of jSir .. • George Ferguson Bowen, G.C.M.G.) Tt inferipy articles which are sold 1. in the colonies r as Extracts of Meat, containing so much ihhutritibus or gluey matter, as'likewise chondrinej has induced Mr H. B.; Hoberts,' of Wanganui^: .tQ~present- rto the public,an Extract of Meat, devoid of these matters, which, although they may solidify an extract, according .to the highest medical authorities, afford no nutriment to the huriian system, and render the extract more liable to putrefaction. The bulk and weight are, of course, increased by such admixture, with gelatinous .natters, , .thereby largely increasing the cost to, the consumer, as the real essence is so proportionately decreased. The superiority of the " Pabulum Vitae " above any other known preparation can be easily.detected, even by the smell. One salt-spoonful of the Extract dissolved in halfapint of hot water, and flavored with pepper and' salt, .makes a delicious, brown soup at the cost of about five farthings., For, children, the quantity of the Extract ought to.be much diminished: Persons on' _ journey, or taking 'strong exercise, may' with '-dvarttage take an increased quantity of the Extract.: A person of weakly, or debilitated constitur tion, will be convinced of the. restoratiye, and inyigprating effect of the Pabulum Vitae.by taking: it twice or thrice a day for a fortnight as directed. One ounce" will make eight half "pint's of agreeablestrength.' If the Extract be' spread thinly on toast or bread and butter, it will be found, most palatable, and-persons travelling ;_n the interior:/where fires cannot always be kindled, will appreciate.it,;particularly as it dissolves readily in cold water, and in that state'iha'kesk-i equally ' nutritious and very' agreeable drink. Alb gravies-and soups can be •made or flavored; and rendered., more, nutritious by^the use" ot this extract.' , COPY. OF TESTIMONIALS: •.'.'. FromDr Gibson — Wanganui, May. 7tb, 1869.. Sir,—l have much pleasure in testifying to the nourishing properties of your Pabulum Vita., Tt is more'palatable than the generality of Extract of Meat, and I consider, it a great boon .'to invalids and.a useful .adjunct to .-the; kitchen. : lam, sir, yours, ,&c, .
