Correspondence.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE EVENING HERALD. ' Wangamri, Feb. 15, 1869. ' Sir,—Tt is well for the people of Wanganui that the butchers are not so united and selfish as the bakers, or we would not have seen the advertisement in your last issue announcing the side of mutton for 2d per Ib. cash from Messrs Bayly & Co. The only way I see clear to make the bakers lower the price of bread is by every one who has the '; proper convenience to bake their own, ! which can be done for less than l^d per i lb, and use the very best materials (which the bakers do not). I do not wish to take up your valuable space by going into the details, so trusting a great number will adopt this plan—for really 160, or 170 per cent is a leetle too much even supposing they have a number of bad debts.—Yours, &c, Pro hac vice.
