Correspondence.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE EVENING HERALD
Wanganui, Jan. 4, 1869,
Sir,—Allow me to inquire, through the medium of your paper, What has become of the money collected in 1866 for the purchase of a fire engine for Wanganui ? If the persona who collected the money do not intend purchasing an engine, I think it would be quite as well for; them to return the money to the various persons who so kindly subscribed for the above object. For my own part, I could find plenty of ways just now for twenty-one shillings, without waiting two and a half years to consider how I was to spend It.—Yours, &c. A Victim.
