.The Argus of this 22nd ultimo says :—"A new steamship, the John Perm, Avas 3'esterday telegraphed from Cape Otway. under canvas and steam, and making for Hobson's Bay. She has been built by the well-known firm the name of whose senior partner she bears, and she is intended for Mr Johnston, of Mewhurn-park, who will employ her on the fat cattle trade on the coast of New Zealand. Her head-quarters there will be Nelson, near which Mr Johnston has secured very extensive paddocks. To these 'green pastures' the cattle will be conveyed from this colony, and from New South Wales and Queensland, by Mr Johnston's sailing ships, and the John Perm is a vessel of some 400 tons register, specially constructed for the trade in which she is to be employed, and her arrival will be a source of pleasure to the many friends of her spirited owner."
