It will be in the recollection of our readers that 11. M. a.s. Brisk left Sydney a short time ago to inquire into the circurastaiue; attending the murder of the Rev. Mr. iiaker and his teachers at Vita Levu, Fiji Islands. By the schooner Pacific, which arrived in Auckland on the 28th ult., the following particulars of the,man-of-war's movements have been received by the N.Z.. Herald ;— ." The Brisk had arrived at the. Islands, and a meeting had b^en b.-ld between the natives and the captain of the Brisk. Onr informant left the Fiji Islands in the schooner Blue Bell, on the 10th ult., and states that the king had been on board the Brisk and promised to arrest the murderers in ten days if the Brisk would come back again. It appears thut the king is determined so avenge the murder, and bring the offenders to justice. One body of the King's party had already been out in search-of the murderers, but had to return again in order to strengthen their force. " The Brisk left Vita Levu on the 10th ult. for Kautara. She was to remain three or four ! days, and after visiting another island, would return to the scene of the murder, and from thence to Sydney, arriving there about the j •25th ult.
