CARANDINI CONCERTS.

Madame and the Misses Carandini, assisted by Mr. W. Sherwin, gave those who heard them last evening a musical treat, such as they have seldom, if ever, hnd the opportunity of enjoying. We have our Choral Society who undoubtedly ■ sing weU, considering the disadvantno'ss under which they labor, but it would be a great pity if theirs were taken as a standard of excellence, such would necessarily be the case, were it not for the Angel's visits of some thoroughly educated musicians. We recommend all who are desirous of improving their musical taste, not to miss a single concert, they are calculated to do more good than six months instruction from a master, let him be ever so clever. To attain .to perfection in anything, it is necessary to have a standard of excellence —we can safely assure our readers that they are perfectly safe in taking either of the talented artists they have now the opportunity of hearing, as their standard—if they had the advantage of living in a European capital, they would of course often hear them equalled, but seldom excelled. It is quite unnecessary for us to criticise the singing of any particular performer or piece. We were pleased to find that an audience drawn from so small a town as ours, was capable of appreciating such a thoroughly racherche selection; they evidently did so, if the enthusiastic applause bestowed upon each performer can be taken as an index of their feeling. There ■ will be another concert tonight, with an entirely different programme.
