" Diseased Nature oftentimes breaks forth in strange eruptions.—Act iii, Scene 1. TO THE PUBLIC. SOME patients, sufftirhig from nervous affections are afraid from sheer bashfulness and modesty to p b-jonally consult a medical man other patients have not the sell-pos-session and coolness when in the consulting room, to accurately describe the ; r symptoms —their habits of li'", ami the. nature of the di-ease they suffer f'oui. Let such persons (he or she) sit quietly down in the privacy of their own apartments, and with calm minds describe clear y each symptom of their case, a clear statement thus written and laid before me, is far preferable in neeyous diseases to personal consultation. Where, howevo--, a disease is of a peculiar and exceptional charac ter, a personal censu tation may become necessary, but my success in c rrespondence is so fjreat, thai of the thousands upon thousands whom I have treated by letter durin _< the last 33 years, not a sngle mistake has ever occurred, not a case has ever been made public—in fact, the very simplicity of my system of correspondence prevents publicity. At the same time medicines are sent to my patients in such a form as to defy detection. How many thousands have I not brought joy to ? How many have been enabled to enter into the marriage state through I consulting me ? How many after marriage have privately consulted me and been blessed, and their married lives made fruitful and happy. How many wasted ruir.ed youths of bcth sexes h.ive also been restored to health, and thanked their manhood for having consulted me by letter. How many questions arise wber9 the family physician is unable to unravel the case, and where often the patient lingers on, not daring to tell his family medical adviser the nature of his complaiut, until conisumption, wasting, or mental disease sttin, and the sufferer gets beyond the curable and is a left a hopeless wreck. A leter written in the privacy of the room and diopped in the post box reaches me qu'etly ; the answer is returned as'quietiy and unnstentatiou-dy and the patient, without stepping 'rom his chamber, except to post his letter, is by return of post put in full possession of the nature of his case His hopes are raised, his doubts removed and he is comparatively a new man ; in fact, in many ca*es, a new being altogether. The only addition to the ordinary letter is the ago, occupation, habit-* and symptoms, nothing more. The usual cohsultation fee of £1 (one pound) must be enclosed, otherwise no answer will be returned. There are thousands of cases in daily life where a consultation with one at a distance, will remove by a fsini'ifj letter, a preat tear, a great care, and it often solves what apoearj as an impenetrable mystery. Many a sad heart has been made joylui on receipt of an explanatory letter Irom me. To those who are about to matry, I would say consult mo belore doing so, and thus prevent many after troubles, and remove many unnecessary fear.and prejudices; to those, more especially who have suffered in eariy ye«rs from disease, or who have yielded to their passions. To these I say, at at once, consult with me, do not tarry, delays art dangerous, and as an expert, my time may not be always at your service, you cau, by simply e one pound, .have the benefit of my experience in the same mauuer as if J lived in your own town, and with the additional advantage of th >rough pri-vacy.--Tours truly, LOUIS L.
