The Court of Appeal was formally opened this morning, hut it was adjourned till Wednesday, in consequence of the absence of the Chief Justice and Judge Richmond. Thirty of the Maori prisoners were condemned to death on Saturday. The Judge, however, stated at the same time, that they would not be hung. A petition from Wanganui has been presented to the House of Representatives, praying that the Colony discontinue paying the Governor's salary. Much interest is felt in the forthcoming Financial debate. A modifification of the Colonial Treasurer's scheme is expected to bo agreed to by the House.
