IT is notified, for the information of miners and those concerned in mining, that the law relating to the issue of more than one Miner's Eight to the same person has been altered by an Act passed during the late Session of the General Assembly. By the law, as it at present stands, any person, corporation, or company may hold any number of Miner's Rights, provided that for every claim held under such Miner's Rights there shall be employed one man being the holder of a Miner's Right. "T is hereby notified, for the inforL mation of Shipmasters, that the Harbor Master at Westport has reported that he has succeeded in erecting a Beacon on the Snag at the entrance to the Buller River. The Beacon stands 22 feet above the snag, and about 11 feet above high water, spring tides, and is painted red. It is a single iron bar, stayed with chains and surmounted by a can, 2 feet high and 1 foot in diameter. Unless the Snag is away in a flood, the Beacon is only liable to be destroyed by drift-wood or by small craft fouling it during the night; and Shipmasters are hereby cautioned and requested to use every endeavor to keep clear of it. They are further warned not to trust too implicitly in its permanence, but to pay close attention to the leading Beacons and steering Signals. JAMES M. BALFOUR, Colonial Marine Engineer.
