The s.s. Murray arrived on Thursday morning, and on the same evening sailed for the south. In the evening the Kennedy arrived from Hokitika, having come direct, without - calling at Greymouth, and on the same tide she sailed for Nelson. Yesterday morning, the Charles Edward, last from Wanganui, also sailed for Nelson, towing out the briganMary, bound for Melbourne.

The steamer Yarra has been driven on shore at Ilokitika, and had to discharge her coals aDd cargo transhipped from one of the northern boats at Greymouth. She has since been got off, with slight injuries. A serious accident has occurred at Sydney —the steamer Fire King having run into the barque Mary Miller, bound for China. Nine persons are seriously injured ; but no deaths tre reported. The troop-ship Himalaya is the largest steamer that has ever entered Wellington harbor. She is flush fore and aft, and her magnitude is only fully appreciated when standing aft and looking forward at the immense space of deck. She carries several breech-loader Armstrong guns, and other implements of war. Her saloon accommodation aj superb, and her cabins are spacious and well ventilated, and there is an air of elegance «nd comfort combined, that is most pleasing. The following are her dimensions : —Length for tonnage, 341 feet 2 inches ; keel for tonnage, 308 feet; breadth, 46 feet 6 inches; extreme length over all, 374 feet; burden in tons, 3542. The ship's company, including officers, number 210. She has accommodation for 1000 men, 90 women, and 200 children, in addition to the ship's company. On her voyage last year from America to England, she had upwards of 1600 souls on board.
