SECOND GRADE BUTTER
PRICE GAZETTED. WELLINGTON, Thursday. The price of second-grade pat butter throughout New Zealand, as from 30th December, will be Is wholesale. The alteration is announced in an Or-der-in-Couneil contained in to-night’s “Gazette.” In all other respects the price of butter for the local trade remains the same. It is stated that owdng to the greater manufacturing efficiency of industry, coupled with the dry season experienced, second-grade butter has diminished to a point where factories are finding it difficult to supply the consumer demand for this commodity—thus the necessity of narrowing the margin between the first and second grades. It is also stated that the price order will in no way affect the - consumers’ cost of standard brands of first-grade quality.—(P.A.)
