MASTER.TON BRANCH. MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The monthly meeting of the general committee of the Masterton branch of the Plunket Society was held yesterday, there being present Mesdames J. Casdlberg (in the chair), N. Irwin, W. A. Michael, S. L. P. Free, T. Warden, H. P. Harrisen, R. C. Drummond, J. Y. Gordon, J. W. A. Falloon, R. F. R. Beetham, E. G. Norman, J. James, A. H. Falloon, E. G. Eton, T. F. Watson, H. Morrison (Tinui sub-branch), and R. Miller (Mauriceville sub-branch). Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames R. Pilmer, T. Jordan, A. F. Stewart, Ericson, A. Donald and E. Sortain Smith. A letter was received from the act-ing-captain of the Tararua and Weraiti Girl Guide companies expressing thanks for the lectures given by the Plunket nurse and enclosing a donation of 10s to assist the work of the society. Members of the committee expressed appreciation of the gift. The president, Mrs. Caselberg, referred to the tragic death of a child which was apparently strangled by becoming entangled in the straps of its pram. She wished to remind parents that a sample of the hand-made safety strap could be seen at the Plunket Rooms and she asked all mothers to note that such straps were procurable. The committee greatly appreciated the gift of a large parcel of useful articles made and donated by the girls of St. Matthew's Collegiate School, also the excellent work of Wairarapa High School girls in making babies’ garments from material supplied by the branch.

Mrs. Miller reported that the Alauriceville sub-branch would hold its annual appeal on February 5. The president reported that Air. W. G. Perry was going to leave at the Plunket Rooms one of the new model prams so that mothers could see the latest and most suitable pattern as recommended by the Plunket Society. Accounts totalling £55 3s lOd were passed. Airs. Caselberg thanked the secretary, the treasurer and the committee for their assistance during the year and wished all a happy Christmas. There would be no meeting of the society in January. The nurses’ report stated: Alasterton, visits to office, adults 373, babies 341, older children 57, telephone 155, total 926; visits to homes, new cases 80, old eases 221, total 301; new cases for month, town and country 29. Outstations: Mauriceville East and West and Kopuaranga 2 visits each, Ihuraua Yalley one visit, new cases 1, visit to new case 1, old cases 17, visits to homes 18. Blairlogie, Whareama, Riversdale, Homewood, Tinui, 2 visits; Armedale, Alataikona, 1 visit; visits to homes 24. Pre-natal section, total visits 11. Products sold: Karilae 20 packets, Karil 31b., Kariol 151 b., ear mileage 979.
