CHRISTMAS SHOPPING.
The season for the purchase of Christmas gifts is at hand, and Masterton shops are already stocked with goods equal to anything to be found in the Dominion. Masterton has stepped into line with the most modern trading conditions, and the shops are resplendent with appealing gifts. The residents of Masterton have had brought to their doors fresh, up-to-date articles which will meet the tastes of the most fastidious. As has often been pointed out, the early customers, obtain the best selection, and it is sound policy to make purchases before the choicest are snapped up. Today is the day of novelties, and there is a keen desire to be first in the field in securing these. Though in former years there may have been inducement to visit a city in search of Christmas gifts out of the ordinary run, there is none today, because what can be found in city shops is now obtainable locally at prices often cheaper.. Another reason for early shopping is consideration of employees.. From now on shop assistants will be kept much busier than usual, and it is not a fair proposition to harass those serving in shops by leaving purchases till the last minute. Furthermore, the earlier Christmas gifts are posted the greater the certainty that these will reach their destination before Christmas Day.
