(Our Own Correspondent). Farmers’ Union. The annual meeting "of the Mauricevi'lle branch of the W.D.F.U. was held in the West Hall on Friday. Mrs E. D,agg presided over a fair attendance in the absence of the president, Miss G. Heckler. The balance-sheet was read and adopted, the funds being in a healthy state. The president reported on the year ’s work and thanked the members for their co-operation. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Miss G. Heckler (re-elected); acting-secretary, Miss E. Milner; vice-presidents, Mrs A. Larsen, Mrs J. Milner, Mrs E. Dagg and Mrs W. Howard. Members listened with great interest to a talk by Miss Anderson, of Eketaliuna, on her recent trip to Europe. The •competition for the best bloom resulted as follows: —Mrs C. Hodgins 1, Mrs A. Larsen 2. A dainty .afternoon tea, was served and a vote of thanks passed to Miss Anderson. * * ;■*■■■ * Opaki Football Club. The Opaki Football Club will hold a dance in the Mauricevflle Hall or. 19th May in an effort to raise funds fo? travelling expenses. Harding’s Orchestra lias been engaged and the function promises to be as popular as the forerunners. * * * • Personal. ' Miss C. Ecldiold, Napier, is the guest of Mrs J. Milner. The friends of Mrs J. E. Williams, Mauriceville West, will regret to hear that her condition is causing much anxiety.
