JUBILEE SHOW

VEHICLE PROCESSION. MEETING- OF COMMITTEE. A well-attended r and enthusiastic mo ting of the committee responsible for the organisation of a decorated vehicle procession in connection with the Jubilee Show of the Masterton A. and P. Association was held yesterday afternoon. A sub-eommitteo of eight was appointed to canvass the business houses considered likely to enter decorated vehicles in the procession. This is to be done immediately and the results are to be reported to a further meeting to be held on Thursday next at 4.45 p.m. Any who may not be called on, but who would like to enter vehicles, are asked to notify Mr E. M. Hodder at once.

It was decided that the procession should form up at noon on Wednesday, 17th February. The route will probably be via Chapel and King Streets to Queen Street, thence to the. Central School, where those not desirous o carrying on to Solway, such as decoiated tricycles, prams, etc., will fall out. An effort is to be made to induce the Wairarapa High School Pipe Band and the Te Ore Ore Maoris to take part in the procession. A pageant of transport is also to form part of the procession and a subcommittee consisting of garage proprietors has this well in hand. This section promises to be most interesting, as various types of the very early conveyances, including a bullock wagon and team, are being prepared. Anyone knowing of the whereabouts of any of the early vehicles, either horse-drawn or motor, would help the committee by advising Mr E. Jcnkins, Midland Garage. The probable order of the procession will be as follows:—Masterton Municipal Band, Pageant of Transport, Maori Section, Decorated Bicycles, Tricycles and Prams, High School Pipe Band, Trade Displays, Y.M.C.A. Band, Decorated Vehicles.

Anyone who would like to help in the work involved with this procession will be welcomed by the committee at the next meeting, on Thursday, 4th February, at the A. and. P. Rooms, at 4.45 p.m. The use of a number of lorries will probably be required and the Carriers’ Association is to be asked to assist in providing the vehicles
