SPRINGBOKS’ TOUR. MAORIS SEEK MATCH. GISBORNE, Monday. With complete unanimity and considerable enthusiasm a large Native gathering held after the Prince of Wales Cup Rugby match on Saturday expressed the opinion that pro Aiding no fresh cause of friction arises a special Maori fixture against the Springboks, should be sought. The gathering was in Honour of the visiting players, and Avlien the question was raised informally by a speaker there was a. spontaneous re* sponse favouring a match Avith the South Africans. —(P.A.) WAIRARAPA v. MANAWATU. TO-MORROW’S GAME. The Wairarapa senior Rugby team. Avill play its last representative match of the season in the Wairarapa to-mor-roAv, Avhon it Avill meet the Manawatu fifteen at Memorial Park, play commencing at 2.30 p.m. The ManaAvatu players have a splendid record this season, having steadily improved in their play and are uoav moulded into a combination clever in back play and dashing in f orAvard Avork. Patrons to-morroAV will see the best ManaAvatu team in action in the Wairarapa for many years. The forwards are said to be the finest since the days of Paddy McMinn, Tiny McMinn and Whisker, and the backs of the standard of the period Avlien Stalker, the All Black, and Furrie Avere shining lights in the ManaAvatu back division. The Wairarapa team is particularly fast in the backs, should have excellent combination and be able to give those present a taste of that fast-mov-ing football Avhieh they desire. The forAvards also have done splendid Avork recently, and altogether the game should be a fitting final to a season Avhieh has provided so much interesting football.
