BASKETBALL
WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION.
A GRADE CHAMPIONSHIP.
On Saturday, on the High School courts, a match was played between Stars I. and High School Old Girls I. for the Wairarapa A grade basketball championship and for the possession of the two championship cups. The result, after a fast and exciting game, was a win for High School Old Girls by 33 to 23. The following teams were fielded: — High School Old Girls: Forwards, N. Cohen (captain), S. Fratcr, N. Eddy; centres, N. Bennington, N. Payton, J. Renner; defence, L. Renner, D. Gust, P. Ball. Stars: Forwards, D. O’Donnell (captain), O. Long, E. Jones, N. McErlick, N. Mount, I. Johnston, F. Butler, A. Burgess, I. Taylor. The A grade, championship is thus won by High School Old Girls I. with 24 points, and Stars I. are runners-up' with 22 points.
B GRADE CONTEST.
A B grade match, St. Andrew’s v. High School 1., which had been postponed some weeks ago to give the representative team a practice, was played at Carterton on Saturday, and resulted in a win for High School I. by 12/8. The B grade championship has been won by Grevtown, with 22 points, and High School*l., with 20 points, are run-ners-up.
