WANGANUI MEETING.

SECOND DAY. WANGANUI, Saturday. The Wanganui Jockey Club’s spring meeting was concluded to-day in fine wetather. There was an increased attendance. The track was in good order, but was slightly soft. The totalisator handled £15,653, against £12,109 on the second day last year, making the total for the meeting £24,926 10s, as compared with £19,152 10s. An enquiry was held into the fall of Spiral and West Tor in the Higgle Handicap, and it was announced that Spiral got on the heels of Full Throttle and brought down West Tor, who followed, the incident being accidental. Neither Peck nor Jenkins, the respective riders, suffered more than bruises and abrasions. Results:—

Debutante Stakes, 4-J furlongs.—3 Icing (E. Peck) 1,2 Sigurd *2, 5 Screen Star 3. Also started: 7 Ticket, 6 Greenwich, 1 Aiwai, 10 Fairy Dale, 4 Girl Pat, 8 Jolly, 9 Wild Flower. A head; 2 lengths. Aiwai was fourth. Time, 53 3-ssec.

Gonville Hack Hurdles, If miles.—2 Lucidus (Day) 1, 4 Brigadore 2, 3 Midacre 3. Also started: 1 Yalpai, 5 Don Erma, 6 Artful Dodger,, 7 Prince Reno. Three lengths; 2 lengths. Valpai was fourth. Time, 3.15.

Trial Handicap, 6 furlongs.—2 Mandamus (Atkins) 1, 3 Sea Wrack 2, 1 May Song 3. Also started: 6 Airing, 5 Lavish, 8 Kia Tere, 7 Sunny Blonde, 4 Cloudy Bay, 10 Mazzini, 11 Laggard, 9 Count Siegfried, 12 Meritor. A length; 24 lengths. Airing was fourth. Time, 1.16 1-5.

Wanganui Guineas, 1 mile. —7 Deficit (Wilson) 1, 4 Laughing Lass 2, 1 Karb 3. Also started: 8 Siegmund, 3 Brazen King, 2 Gallio, 5 Dawning Light, 6 Imposture. Two lengths; a head.
